Kokoro Tequila

Kokoro Tequila

What's inside this incredible, mysterious bottle? These are incredible, mysterious bottles. This is a Kokoro. They've got two expressions, a Plata and a Limitada. Limitada is super cool, it's like a hoven. They take, once the tequila is finished, they soak cooked agave in the tequila for 10 days to give it more like agave-ness. I love this tequila for gifting because it's such a cool packaging, right? It feels really neat. Actually, go to our bio and learn how to save 15% on this incredible tequila. It's actually our tequila of the month. Alright, let's do the Plata first. Okay, Plata. Ooh, that's nice. Good! The sweetness at the end of that, really noticeable.I get some black pepper on this and some licorice kind of vibes too. Yeah, definitely black pepper. Right up, right up, right up my alley. Yeah, more so than you. But it's good. The Limitada, only a thousand bottles made in the run. So like four barrels. Only have like a hundred and something bottles left.Oh, wow! So get on it. If you're going to get on it, it's pretty special. Alright. Wow. You can, I mean, it's so concentrated on the nose, right? It just, it smells like sweet, sweet concentrated agave. Smells good. Mmm. Ooh. Wow. That's yummy. It's almost syrupy, right? I would say it's definitely sweeter than this one.Yeah, I mean that agave soaked in there, like makes a real difference. That's really interesting. Both are really good. The Limitada definitely special. I mean, there's hardly any of them out there and it's a different process. Is definitely my favorite, but both good. Both really good. The Limitada is super cool. Give it a shot. Kokoro.

You can get it online, go to our bio to find it. $50 or so, additive-free, made at Nom 1414. Isn't this bottle beautiful though?   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) Yeah, I just was actually noticing that. It's really pretty. Handmade glass, like, and it's heavy. Oh! This smells right up your alley. Oh! man, this is it! I can tell that you're going to like this. You know that. Just by the smell. You know by nose. Yeah. We've had a lot of tequilas from 1414 on this show. This is one of my favorites for sure. All right. Yeah. It's so concentrated. It's like just agave. It's almost like, it's almost like an agave chewing gum. Yeah. It's too peppery for me, but it's still very tasty. Yeah. This is one of the ones, even though we're starting to taste more the same. Yeah. This is going to be the ones I think we're not... we have a difference of opinion. Yeah. Yeah.Okay. What do you think on this one? Score wise? Yeah. I'm going to give it a 6. Okay. It's too peppery for me, and I'm not quite there yet. I'm not quite a tequila nerd yet. What's the thing that this almost tastes, it's so agave forward. It almost tastes like it's a high-proof. Yeah. You know what I mean?Yeah. But it's not, which is amazing. Uh huh. So for me, this is like love language. This is a 9 all day. Alright.I really, really like this Lost Lore.

Does Color Tell You How Old Your Tequila Is?

Does Color Tell You How Old Your Tequila Is?

How old is your tequila? This question comes from @Jason.albers.94, who asked a question on our post. He's going to get a $25 gift card to our store. Blanco, also known as plata or silver, is typically unaged, but you can age it. So this Acre Largo is unaged, but this Inspiro Blanco is aged 30 days. You can still call it a Blanco.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer)   Reposados have to be aged at least two months, but don't let the color fool you. The Siempre was aged seven months, and this Cazcanes was aged for 11 months, but this one's much darker because it was in new barrels. Brand new barrels. So Añejos have to be aged for at least a year again. The color can throw you off. This Espanita is 18 months in barrels, where this Corrido is 12, but this is quite a bit darker. And then Extra Añejo have to be aged for at least three years, but both of these were aged for four years. The Tapatio Excelencia was aged four years, as well as this G4 Extra Añejo, but this one's much darker.Indeed. There are tight regulations around how long a tequila must be in a barrel before it can be called a Reposado, an Añejo, or an Extra Añejo. Thanks for the question.

Suerte Tequila Seltzer Review

Suerte Tequila Seltzer Review

New tequila seltzers from Suerte. Should you give these a shot? Might as well try them. Just coming out now from the same NOM that they make their great tequila at NOM 1530. So legit tequila in here. They've got a Ranch Water, a Paloma, and a Margarita. Each of these are 7% ABV. So yeah, let's have a party!   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) All right, let's try it. This is the Ranch Water. This one's the Paloma. Paloma, got a little color to that one, huh? This one is the Margarita. Let me try this one.Tasty? Yeah. It's interesting. There's very little lime. Try this. Okay. Very little lime at all, which I like. I don't like too much lime in my ranch water. That's nice. Oh, yeah. That's good. You know what's crazy about this? Refreshing. You would never know that 7%. No, that's easier drinking than like a Pinion. And those are only 5%, I think. Yeah, agreed. Good. Thumbs up on the Ranch Water. All right, let's try the Paloma. You're kind of a Paloma snob, so let me see what you think. No, I like it. Not too bitter, which sometimes grapefruit gets pretty bitter. But it doesn't taste fake. So many grapefruit or Paloma, RTDs seltzers taste really artificial. That's nice. Yummy. I like it. I like it, too. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. I would drink that canned cocktail. I would, too. I like all three of them. It's not overwhelmingly sweet, which is nice. But definitely the sweetest of the three. Definitely, the sweetest of three.Which one do you like the best? Probably the Paloma. Me, too. I'm going to say the Paloma. This is my second favorite. Margarita, my third favorite, but I like them all. How about you? I would go first, second, third, but I like them all, too. This has a little bit more flavor for me. Nice job, Suerte! I think these are winners. Look for them in a store near you soon!

I'm going to have Maddie tell you the one word flavor description.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) Okay. For each of these reposados, you ready? Let's do it. Alma de Jaguar. Vanilla. Good call. Don Vicente. Black pepper. The El Tesoro Reposado. Oak? Yeah, more, yeah, there's a lot in it, but definitely it's got more wood character than some of these reposados. Cazcanes, number seven. Cinnamon. Definitely.Corrido. Butterscotch. Love that one. And this one is really different, the Quintaliza, because it's aged in coffee barrels, so it doesn't necessarily taste like coffee, though. Not quite. I mean, a little bit, but I would say chocolate. Yeah, so this one, these would be great, like, for your main meal for Thanksgiving. This one, dessert. If you're having a pecan pie or some coffee or whatever afterwards, the Quintaliza, for your main meal at Thanksgiving, any of these five, give it a shot. Let us know what you try.

Make a Super Easy Ranch Water with Espanita Tequila

Make a Super Easy Ranch Water with Espanita Tequila

Do you want to make an easy, better ranch water fast? Use these Espanita lime or grapefruit infused tequilas. This is real and this is natural color folks. This is such a great idea. Espanita takes a Blanco tequila and then they infuse it, lime or grapefruit for like two months.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer)   So it's very, very slow process. 35% ABV. These are about $30, $31 a bottle, which is super fair. We're going to give it a shot. We're going to get a little bit of a.. Ranch water. I'm not measuring a ranch water. That just feels like unnecessary. I'm just going straight in. Okay. A little grapefruit, a little lime. Yeah, that color is crazy. It's beautiful, right? Okay, Maddie, what else? All right. We're going to use some Topo Chico. Topo Chico. In both. I like to throw in a little bit of salt into my ranch water. I just feel like it helps a little bit. Now, obviously we're not putting lime into this because in theory it's already in the tequila. We'll just garnish. Yep. Cheers.Wow! You can taste the lime. Absolutely, and the grapefruit too. Yum! Mmm. This is so pretty, too. Oh my goodness. These are really tasty. Really tasty. And how long did that take us to make?Like 30 seconds? And so, if you want to make a ranch water better, the Espanita infused lime, there's a pineapple as well. Give it a shot.

Tequila Neck Pourf

Tequila Neck Pourf

So there's this concept of the neck pour, which means that the first sip or two from your bottle tastes different from the rest of the bottle because this has so little oxygen. So we're going to test this.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) Yeah. Science! Science! We're going to do this new G4 108, which is a high proof G4 Blanco. We're going to try it now, and then we're going to try it again the next time we shoot videos. Okay. That's a good sound. It is. It's fairly light, but again, that's sort of the idea, right? Because it has no oxygen in it that instantly it's kind of tight. It's not incredibly strong. You can already get that little black pepper mineral characteristic of this tequila, though.Oh my goodness! That's hot! 108! Yeah! I mean, besides the fact that it's like kind of peppery at the beginning, it's actually very good and very smooth. It's delightful. It is very peppery. But again, it'll be interesting to see how that changes after the balance of this gets some more air and it'll be probably three or four weeks before we try this again. It's been three weeks and we're testing the Neck Pour theory. We've got new outfits, even a new set. Yeah! So we're back here with the G4 108 Blanco. Let's give it a shot. All right! Where last time, it was very light on the nose. Uh-huh! I mean, it's definitely a stronger smell now.I agree! Yeah. That's really good. Still hot, but not as hot as I remember it being at the beginning. I agree. I feel like it's more harmonious now. It just feels a little more organized in my mouth. And so I would say... I mean, clearly there's a difference. Right? This whole idea of does a neck pour matter? I think the answer is for sure. Yeah! Now, is it better because it has more oxygen? I kind of think yes. I agree, yeah. I think I like this better because, first of all, I don't love when it's really hot, and I think this is less hot than it was before. It's dangerous to evaluate a tequila when you just crack it, pour it because it's not at its best, right? You've got to give it a little time. There's something to this neck pour theory. I agree! All right.

Does Terroir Matter in Tequila? With LaGrimas Tequila

Does Terroir Matter in Tequila? With LaGrimas Tequila

Does terroir matter in tequila? The idea of terroir is that a specific plot of land has a big role to play in the flavor of any kind of wine or spirit. So this new brand, Lagrimas del Valle, is kind of putting this principle to the test. Each of their releases or their tequila is from a single plot of land, a single rancho.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) And these are two that they've put out so far. This is the 2022 Palo Verde. And the 2022 El Chiqueño. This is the Palo Verde. Black pepper, minerals. For sure. Gravel. These are both 46% ABV as well. It's actually pretty good though. It's pretty tasty. Yeah, so agave forward. I get a lot of brine on this.Okay. Like a lot, like almost like an olive vibe. Now that you say that, I smell it. Yeah. This is like that green olives you get like at a steakhouse. Yeah. Second one is the El Chiqueño. Okay. Here you go. Big difference. The second one's a little more muted on the nose. I think a little, a little less, a little less powerful.Wow! They do taste different. Way different. This one's less briny for sure. Uh huh. I think a little bit more sweet. What do you get?For sure at the end. I agree it's a lot sweeter at the end. That is crazy, the difference. But both great choices. If you can find these, grab one. So well-made, and can't wait to see what they come out with next.
