When Will Tequila Prices Drop?

When Will Tequila Prices Drop?

When will the price of tequila go down? Agave prices reached record highs earlier this year. Now, though, due to massive increases in volume of agave planted, the price of tequila's main ingredient is collapsing. Agave prices on the market have dropped by as much as 80% recently. When will those price drops get passed on to you?   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) Well, not very soon. Tequila producers, importers, distributors, and retailers have been shown what we are willing to pay, so they're probably not going to unilaterally drop the price. And in fairness, costs for transportation, and glass bottles, corks, and all that are all pretty high still. Now, there may be some tequila price drops on the way, but if they are, they're likely to be based on massive competition, so many tequila brands, and jockeying for space on retail shelves, more so than just passing along agave price drops to you. I'm sorry for the bad news, but tequila prices are likely to stay high for at least the next year. I'm tequila teacher Jay Baer. Stay tuned for more tequila info.

Atanasio Origenes Blanco Tequila Review

Atanasio Origenes Blanco Tequila Review

If you like Mezcal, I think you're going to love this tequila. Atanasio Origenes Blanco. 46% ABV. It's not available, officially, in the US yet. Coming soon though, primarily in Florida, California, but also going to be available at SipTequila.com. Probably $85 or so, we think, when it releases.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) Let's give it a shot, Maddie. What do you think? All right. That's a distinct nose. I don't love the nose. It's cheesy. Cheesy, yes. Charcuterie board. I dig it like I like that charcuterie board tequila smell. Oh, interesting. Yeah, I'm into it. Yeah, it's not my favorite. It's got a lot of flavor in it.It does have a lot of different flavors. The mintiness really comes through.Yeah, the mintiness comes through, I still taste a little bit of maybe, it's just still what i'm smelling...ham and cheese sandwich. Every time I come back to it, I get a different flavor. A Blanco lover's tequila. Like I said, if you like mezcal, I think you'll like this tequila a lot because it's got some mezcal characteristics. Not smoky necessarily, but a lot of the same kind of flavor compounds. I think it's really interesting and worth giving it a shot because it's so different than a lot of stuff that's out in the market. For me, it's an A. All right. I am not as big a fan of high-proof stuff always. We're not there yet. Yeah, I'm still getting there. So I'm going to give it a 6 with the potential of being maybe a 7. Atanasio Origenes Blanco coming soon to the United States.

Cherry Margarita Recipe

Cherry Margarita Recipe

Have you ever had a cherry margarita?I don't know if I have. I don't think I have either, which is saying something, but we're going to make one right now.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) Six cherries. Half a lime. Half an ounce of this toasted orange peel. Oh, toasted orange simple syrup. I love that stuff. That's amazing. An ounce, I think, was the answer of this amaretto. Ounce and a half of the Hiatus Blanco. Like these guys a lot. This is a nice tequila. Good price also. Okay, great. Oh, that smells really good already. It does.Okay, great. Ooh, it is pretty. It seriously smells so good. I can smell it from here. That is a fragrant cocktail. Alright, I like it when you try it first, in case it's bad. Thanks. Wow! Ooh! Wow, you're making some faces there. No, it's really good. It's, uh... That's surprising. Here's the thing about this drink. If I drank this blindfolded, I would say there's no tequila in here.Yeah, no, you can't taste the tequila. Wow! This taste like a melted cherry popsicle. Like one of those boom pops. That's a great call. Make this. You're going to thank us later. Put your notes in the comments. Cherry margarita. Hiatus.

Mini Tequila Bottles

Mini Tequila Bottles

Why don't more brands make these mini bottles? I mean, they're great for tossing them in your purse, maybe bringing them up to the top of the ski slope. So why don't more brands make them? They're super cute too, right? They're like literally shrunk down.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) But the reason more brands don't make minis, you don't see them very often, it's because they're really expensive to make. And then they're also hard to fill, right? You got to have a whole special filling machine. And they're much easier to break, obviously, than full-size bottles. You can't find them in storage very often. But here's some favorites. Don Fulano, Fuenteseca. This little mini LALO is super cute, right? So cute. But I think the greatest minis in the world are these mini Skellys from Azulejos, right? They are absolutely unbelievable. I'm going to actually cardinal sin. I'm going to drink one of these. What do you think? Okay, let's do it. Rip off his head. Rip off his head, daddy! Whoa! Skeleton head cork. Isn't that awesome? This is the cutest. These are super cute. Yeah, this is the Blanco. These are good to bring to a tailgate. Yes! Big fan. Cheers. Salud.Ooh! Nice. That is good. That's got like a... Ooh, that's got like almost a little bit of a movie popcorn vibe to it. It's nice. Bits of real skeleton in there too, which is fantastic. If you can find minis, I think they're awesome to collect. If you've got some favorites, put them in the comments. Interested to see what you have.

Mission Craft Cocktail Margarita

Mission Craft Cocktail Margarita

Is this the best pre-made margarita you can get? We'll see. We will find out. Look, there's so many margaritas you can get in a can, in a bottle, in a plastic sack. More all the time. But I actually think this is my favorite from Mission Craft Cocktails. This is not a sponsored post. We just really, really like this particular brand.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) They've got a whole line. It's not just margaritas. They have Mai Tais and Old Fashions and Manhattans. All super good. 375ml is about $20, which is $5 or $7 per drink, which isn't a bad price. It's a 25% ABV. So about what a margarita would be in an actual bar setting. So throw a lime in there, will you please? Okay. Yep.Just a little squeeze. There we go. So you can find these in stores in California, or you can visit the link in the bio to buy them online. Let's try them. Cheers. These are our special agave mugs that you can get.Yep. Good. So good. Oh yeah. Really good. Yeah. But it tastes like real tequila. So much of the pre-made margaritas have a very thick weirdo chemical taste. And this does not at all. No, this is good. Big fan. Grab them if you get a chance. Go to the bio. Buy some mugs from us too.

El Tesoro Tequila Event

El Tesoro Tequila Event

Last week, I had the great pleasure of going to New York to a launch event with El Tesoro Tequila. The views at this event were amazing. How amazing? They were this amazing. Absolutely on top of the world. El Tesoro Tequila is made by Carlos and Jenny Camarena. They launched two new tequilas in their Mundial series.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer)   One is aged in Knob Creek Rye Barrels, and the other in Laphroaig Scotch Barrels. Both of these are 12-month añejos. I really like both of them. They're very different, though. I was skeptical of the Laphroaig, but it's actually super interesting. The peatiness is light and gives the tequila a clean, sharp, mineral, smoky vibe that's actually great. Both of these bottles will be $175. More Knob Creek will be available than the Laphroaig edition. Here's Carlos talking about the Laphroaig project. The Laphroaig, which is our second one edition for the Laphroaig it is going all the way to Scotland and experimenting with the ease and the peatiness of the land of Scotland, bringing it into tequila, and try to create something that would honor both tequila without losing our spirit as tequila producers. But at the same time trying to capture the best of a different spirit, the best of both worlds. And that's why we call this Mundial, because it is getting the expertise of these good friends from other parts of the world.

5 Reasons Tequila Brands Change Distilleries

5 Reasons Tequila Brands Change Distilleries

Why did that tequila brand change distilleries? Well, it happens, right? I mean, Cazcanes, they changed distilleries. Pasote, they changed distilleries as well. And Majenta changed distilleries also. And several more.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) So here are five reasons why that might happen. First, capacity issues. The brand just outgrows the distillery's ability to make enough tequila. Second, the distillery focuses more on their owned brands, and they add a lot of other new brands that they have to support. Third, inconsistencies in quality, or maybe even disagreements over flavor profile and the style of tequila being made. Fourth, you might change distilleries because of cost. Brands might be able to make their product less expensively elsewhere. And fifth, the brand itself may have been purchased and then moved to a new distillery; Casamigos, for example. Tequila is, after all, a business and changing distilleries doesn't inherently mean the tequila brand is getting better or worse. It just means that everybody made a business decision that they think is best for them.

Mijenta Reposado Tequila Review

Mijenta Reposado Tequila Review

I love how they handle their business, but is the tequila any good? Mijenta Reposado. I love, love, love their commitment to sustainability. Recycled glass bottle, recycled glass top. The paper label is made out of recycled agave fibers. Oh, cool. The box that it comes in is, there's no varnish on here at all.     View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) It's almost like origami, so there's only one tiny bit of glue here for this whole box. I love how they handle their commitment to the environment. Let's give it a shot. Okay. Nice. Ooh, I like that nose a lot. Yeah, it's sweet, but not chloine and it doesn't have that heavy, heavy perfume that you sometimes get.Yeah. It's a nice balanced nose. It's really nice. Ooh! Solid. Tasty. Yeah. Very harmonious all the way through, some nice nutty flavors, and a little bit of sweetness. It just carries all the long finish to still taste it. I wouldn't say it's like a roller coaster of flavors. But very, very nice. I think for people who are maybe not brand new tequila drinkers but are on the come up and maybe aren't ready for something super crazy, this is a good pick.I really enjoy it. It's a little sweet, which I like but not like a fake sweet and it's not too, I don't get like a ton of vanilla or butterscotch or anything. I thought it's very enjoyable. I'm going to go 8. I like it very much. Yep. I'm going to go 8 also. Hey, hey! I know! I loved it. It's delicious! And extra credit for the commitment to sustainability. Great job on the packaging. Thanks, Mijenta .
