La Pulga Reposado Tequila Review

Deep in the heart of Texas. This is a new tequila brand straight from Fort Worth. Does it deserve a Texas star? Let's find out! This is La Pulga, which actually means the flea, which is hilarious. This was conceived in the Fort Worth flea market. This Reposado is aged for seven months and is additive-free. Yeah! It's about $58, something like that, on their website. Yeah, it's really classic. The whole thing is really cool. Oh yeah! This is their NOM. I love it! Nice packaging. I love it. Let's give it a shot. All right! Mmm. It's a little sweet, but very pleasant. Smells delicious. I know. I knew you were going to love it. Nice balance! I really like that. It's got that kind of baking spice, cinnamon, really easy drinking, but you can tell you're drinking tequila. It's got a little... It's got a little oomph to it. I like it. Yeah. I love this a lot. I dig it. I'm going to go 8 for the La Pulga. And I'm going to give it a 9. What??? I know. Look out. Is that the highest reposado you've ever? That might be. It's really good. La Pulga, check it out!

4 Amazing High Proof Anejos

If you like Añejo tequila, we've got some great news. With lots of tequila brands, of course, are making high proof Blancos, it's a big trend. But increasingly, brands are making Añejos that are over 40% ABV. This Xoloitzcuintle is fantastic. One liter bottle at 46% ABV. This Cabal, 44% in this cool horse head bottle.I'm going to try a little bit of this Ocho Widow Jane Añejo. That is 48%. We tried this for the distillery when we were there. We did. It was really good. I've been dying to try this Montagave Añejo. It's aged in wine barrels, which I'm a big fan of. So... That's 44%. 44%. Yes. Ooh. The extra proof just dials up the flavor, right? Yeah. Honestly, it's not like super hot. Do you think you like high proof Añejos more than you like high proof Blancos? Yes. Four great options. There's tons more out there. Be looking for this on the shelf. Make sure you pay attention to the ABV.Cheers.

Why Do You Drink Tequila?

Why do you drink tequila? Why do you drink tequila? I mean, there's a lot of things that you could drink, beer, wine, milkshakes, pickle juice, but we had somebody in the comments ask us why we drank tequila? Ever since I could drink, a margarita has always been my favorite at any restaurant I went to. And then, obviously, since being with Jay, I have enjoyed tequila straight much more often. I really like the flavor profile of it. It's also the healthiest hard alcohol that you can drink. And I grew up in Arizona and went to school in Tucson near the border. So I spent a lot of time in Mexico and developed an appreciation for agave-based spirits really early on. There's so many different flavors all made out of the same plant. To me, bourbon kind of tastes like bourbon and vodka kind of tastes like vodka and gin kind of tastes like gin. Rum's got a lot of variety, but tequila variety is so much bigger, and I just think that's really, really interesting. But we want to know why you drink tequila? Let us know in the comments why you drink tequila, and the best answer gets a $50 gift card to our online store.

Cierto - A Great Luxury Tequila!

Are you making a big luxury tequila mistake? Like so many of these luxury tequilasare made with shortcuts and that's not actually luxury. It's a tequi-lie. You can do so much better. Totally! For example, Cierto, additive-free, made at NOM 1146.The same people that make Don Fulano, they make Tears of Llorona, they make Fuenteseca. Unbelievable tequila. Yeah, the bottling and packaging is beautiful. It's so amazing and the tequila is delicious. This particular distillery is so great at blending. They take the tequila and then they go into their library of like thousands and thousands of barrels and some of the tequila in these is over 30 years old.Cierto's actually our tequila of the month for January. Woo! And it's one of the only luxury tequilas that we recommend. For sure, one of the only luxury tequilas that we recommend. I think you'll like it as well. They have the whole line Blanco, Repo, Añejo, Extra Añejo. It's about the same price as the tall blue bottle, but it is way, way better.I think you'll find that out for yourself.

Let's actually try that right now while we're thinking about it. And then they've got these flavored tequilas as well, which are all naturally made. They actually infuse the fruit into the tequila like for weeks. And so these colors, this is the lime, grapefruit, pineapple these colors are actually all natural just from the infused...Oh, yeah. Yum. Ooh. Right? Yeah. Very cinnamony.Uh huh. It's lovely. Tepozan Anejo Tequila Review

Tepozan Anejo Tequila Review

What is it?An añejo! And what is it called?Tepozan!Tepozan, great job! $60, $69 or something. 40% ABV. Aged 14 months in American Oak, used Bourbon Barrel. Let's see what we think for this tepozan.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) All right!. Smells sweet. I like the smell.Yeah, the balance is really nice. But it's not gross sweet. It doesn't have like that really fakey characteristic.Mm- Hmm.It's a nice balance.Yeah.Oh wow!Tasty!Very much so! I think bourbon drinkers will really like this. It's got a lot of wood character, but it's not over the top though. No, not at all. Because I like it and I don't love when it's over the top wood. You don't like this super oaky. This would be a great balance of just in between and it's at a great price point also. If you're an Añejo lover, I think this tepozan is a good bet. I dig it. I'm going to go 8.5.And I'm going to go 8 and I would buy it, which is shocking! I don't say that often.Well, it is a discovery! Tepozan Añejo.

Is the Tequila Boom Over?

Breaking news! The tequila exports actually dropped in 2023. That's right. For the first time in 13 years, tequila leaving Mexico went down by 4.2%. Why? Isn't tequila still like a big boom? 2023 is a tricky year because the price of agave was so high. A lot of brands decided to sell through the tequila they'd already exported instead of paying top dollar to make new tequila.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jay Baer (@tequilajaybaer) And after three years of insane growth, it makes sense that the tequila boom settle down a little bit. But it also makes sense that there is a finite number of tequila bottles that anybody will buy, especially the more expensive tequilas. Now, the future growth in tequila is going to come from outside the USA and that boom really hasn't happened in earnest yet.But I think we'll see a small increase in tequila exports in 2024 and another bigger jump in 2025 when the rest of the world discovers just how awesome tequila is. What do you think?
