5 Truths and 1 Lie About Volcan Tequila
Five truths and one lie about Volcan. All of their expressions are made with a Tahona. Also, when they make the expressions with a Tahona, they don't shred the agave first. They're one of the only brands that does it. They actually press the agaves whole, which is really inefficient, but delicious. Okay. It's also made at NOM 1523, no contract.Only brand made there, which is great. Yes. Also, the guys at Volcan are super picky about their agave, like only, harvesting in the dry season. Yeah. Super, super ripe. High sugar levels. Also, speaking of particular, they use a natural water source for all of their tequila, which makes it extra delicious. The one lie, and we've talked about this before about this brand, is that people always say, oh, they're like a big giant corporate brand. Yeah. And it's actually a family, a Mexican family, The Gallardo, has been around since the 1700's. That has a joint venture with Moët Hennessey, globally. So, yes, they've got some corporate support, but this is not Don Julio, this is not Diageo, this is not Cuervo, and they are doing things the right way.

Learn moreIs Regular or High Proof Tequila Better for Margaritas?
Does stronger tequila make for a better margarita? We put it to the test. We're using this new Q Spicy Mango Margarita Mix. Let's see what we think. All right. Of the two of these, is that right? The color is very mangoey. It's bright. That's yummy, and it's not too spicy, but it has a little kick. Very summer, very summer friendly. Okay, good. Nice job, Q. All right. This is the high-proof. See if we can even tell a difference. Oh, definitely a difference. Big difference. Wow! But I actually, in this prefer the... Me too This is so fruity and strong. I completely agree. And I think that's the lesson here. The more intense your mix, the more you might want to go with a high-proof to cut that sweetness or whatever the mix is.If it's a lighter mix, like a ranch water or even a Paloma, maybe you want to go regular strength because otherwise it tastes pretty boozy. This has been a great experiment. I'm glad we did this. Yeah.Look for this mix. It's delicious for something this strong. Yep. High-proof.
Learn moreDoes Too Much Air Ruin Tequila?

Yeah.I love it. Okay, so what we're going to do is leave this outside for a while and see what happens to the flavors in the aromas when we come back. All right. See you in a bit. But it's still pretty similar, so let's really amp this up. Let's see how this works. All right.Splashing everywhere. All right, now simulating having your tequila set out for a while. That is so crazy, right? It doesn't have nearly as much flavor. No, or even aroma. It's like it just washes away.Yeah. Learn moreHow to Convince Your Friends to Drink Better Tequila
Hey Maddie, I got a question for you. So like you're out all the time with like friends and you got a lot of younger friends and they order some terrible tequila at the bar. Like what do you? Like, what do you tell them? Well, this happens to me quite a bit because I'm at that age where, you know, we go out to bars. My friends love tequila. They're really big fans of a tequila that tastes very vanilla-y that has very good marketing and they think it's good because it's more expensive than just the house. But I tell them, obviously there's a lot of tequila brands and a lot that are really well-made, and then some that are not well-made that have good marketing, so I'll pick a bottle off of the shelf at the bar and I'll say, okay, we're going to order this and you're going to try it, and you can tell me if you think it tastes better than the one that you're used to. And honestly, it works a lot. I've convinced a lot of my friends to switch over to additive-free and to drink ranch waters because it makes them feel better the next day.
